Funding and acquisitions in Indian startups this week [13 Dec- 18 Dec]

This week 52 Indian startups raised funding, of which 42 received a total of $1,390 million or $1.39 billion. Ola raised the highest funding of about $500 million, followed by ShareChat and Innovaccer which raised $266 million and $150 million respectively.

Meanwhile, the funding of the 10 of the total funded startups remained undisclosed.

Growth/late startups

Ola: Cab hailing giant Ola has raised $500 million via a Term Loan B from international institutional investors. 

ShareChat: Vernacular social media and short video entertainment platform ShareChat has cornered $266 million in a new round led by Alkeon Capital and some existing investors including Temasek Holdings and Moore Strategic Ventures.

Innovaccer: Healthtech unicorn Innovaccer has more than doubled its valuation in its latest Series E funding round of $150 million, and is now valued at $3.2 billion.

Ninjacart: Flipkart and Walmart have announced a fresh round of joint strategic investment worth $145 million in fresh produce supply chain startup Ninjacart. This is the third time Flipkart has invested in the Bengaluru-based company.

Juspay: Payments technology platform Juspay has scooped up $60 million in its Series C round led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2 with participation from existing investors VEF and Wellington Management. The Bengaluru-based startup had raised $21.6 million in its Series B round in April last year.

Hevo: Hevo Data, the San Francisco and Bengaluru-based SaaS startup focused on data management, has raised $30 million in a Series B round of funding led by Sequoia Capital India.

Klub: Revenue-based financing platform Klub has marked the first close of its revenue-based financing fund–Aceler8 at Rs 200 crore or $26 million, the company said in a statement on Tuesday. 

NephroPlus: Healthcare company NephroPlus has raised $24 million in a Series E round led by IIFL Asset Management (IIFL AMC) along with investment from existing investors InvestCorp and Bessemer Venture Partners (BVP).

Fullife Healthcare: Rakesh Jhunjhunwala-backed wellness and nutrition company Fullife Healthcare raised Series C funding of $22 million by Morgan Stanley Private Equity Asia (MSPEA), the company said on Monday.

Atomberg Technology: Consumer product brand Atomberg Technology has raised $20 million in growth capital led by Jungle Ventureswith participation from Inflexor Ventures. 

Early-stage startups 

Uni: Fintech startup Uni has raised $70 million in Series A round led by General Catalyst, making this one of the largest Series A rounds in the Indian fintech space. The round also saw participation from Eight Roads Ventures, Elevation Capital, Arbor Ventures, and existing investors Lightspeed and Accel. 

Bureau: Bureau, a frictionless identity verification and fraud protection platform, on Thursday announced that it has emerged from stealth with a $12 million Series A round led by Quona Capital.

TranZact: SaaS platform TranZact has raised $7 million in a Series A funding round led by Tribe Capital with participation from Prime Venture Partners, Gemba Capital and existing investor Kae Capital. Angel investors also participated in the round including Suhail Sameer, Sriram Krishnan, Devendra Rane, Giridhar Malpan, and Krishna Khandelwal.

Practically: Practically, a Hyderabad-based interactive and immersive learning app, has secured a strategic investment of $5 million.

MoEVing: EV startup MoEving has raised $5 million in a seed capital from angels including D.S. Brar, Anshuman Maheshwary, Dr. Srihari Raju Kalidindi, D.N.Reddy, Ashish Goel, Krishnadeva Veerareddy, Vijay Dutt, Govind Agarwal, Chaitanya Kamdar, Subodh Gupta and Mukesh Tiwari.

Plix: D2C brand Plix has secured $5 million in a Series A round of funding from Guild Capital and RPSG Capital Ventures.

Stack: Investment-tech startup Stack has secured $4.5 million in a seed funding led by Y Combinator, Harvard Management, Goodwater Capital, Soma Capital, Uncommon Capital and Earlsfield Capital.

Pi Green Innovations: Cleantech company Pi Green Innovations said that it has secured over $4.5 million in Series A funding. The round was led by the Investment Fund of Opus Consulting with a total of $4.3 million.

Nestasia: D2C brand Nestasia has raised $4 million in a Series A funding round led by Stellaris Venture Partners. Several angel investors who are part of the Stellaris Founder Network, also participated in the round, including Varun Alagh , Sahil Barua, Anuj Srivastava, Ramakant Sharma and Dilip Khandelwal.

Vedic Cosmeceuticals: Vedic Cosmeceuticals has raised Rs 25 crore or $3.2 million in a series A funding round from Sixth Sense Ventures, the company said in a statement on Thursday. 

Spry: Healthtech SaaS platform Spry has raised $3 million in a seed round led by Together Fund along with FJ Labs, Pareto, Knowledge Capital, AngelList, Whiteboard Capital and other angels.

StudyFree: StudyFree, an online platform to help students find international scholarships, has raised $3 million in a seed round led by I2BF Global Ventures.

Anakin: Ecommerce-focused Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) provider Anakin has raised $2 million in a seed round from Y Combinator, HOF Capital, Austen Allred, ACE & Company, Integrity, Pioneer Fund and a group of other angel investors.

Hoopr: Music licensing marketplace Hoopr has raised $1.5 million in a seed round led by 9Unicorns accelerator programme, and marquee angels Ashneer Grover (BharatPe), Anshoo Sharma (Magicpin), Sahil Barua (Delhivery), Giri Malpani, Anuraag Srivastava (Rainshine Entertainment), and Pradyumna Agrawal (Temasek).

Oben EV: EV manufacturing startup Oben EV has raised $1.5 million from investors at We Founder Circle, Rakesh Somani, Gaurav Juneja, Siddharth Shah and other angels including Sumeet Pathak, Dr. Milan Modi, and Dr. Aloknath. 

WeGot: Smart water meter maker and IoT-enabled integrated water management startup WeGot has raised Rs 10.81 crore or $1.4 million from a clutch of investors including HDFC capital. This would be the second fundraise for the Chennai-based company in 2021. It raised Rs 8 crore from angel investors in June.

Haus & Kinder: D2C brand Haus & Kinder has raised Rs10 crore or $1.3 million in a Pre-Series funding round led by angel investor Shaival Desai. The firm is looking to raise a further $5 million (about Rs 35 crore) in a Series A funding round early next year.

Enmovil: Logistics-tech startup Enmovil has raised Rs10 crore or $1.3 million in Pre-Series A funding led by Anicut Angel Fund along with participation from KCT Group, Blackbird Investments Pvt. Ltd. and RB Investments. The company had raised around Rs3 crore from Emergent Ventures in its seed round.

Frendy: Community group buying platform Frendy has raised Rs 10 crore or $1.3 million in Pre-Series A round from Pavitar Singh, Abhishek Khurana and the Desai family office. The firm is also in discussion to close its Series A round of Rs 30 crore in the next few months.

PropReturns: PropReturns, an Indian real estate investment startup, has raised $1.2 million from a group of marquee investors including US-based Y Combinator, Goodwater Capital, and Soma Capital.

ASQI Advisors: Blockchain technology startup ASQI Advisors has raised $1 million in a pre-series A funding round led by Founders Room Capital.

Samadhan: Insurtech platform Insurance Samadhan has raised $725,000 (Rs 5.5 crore) in a pre-Series A round led by Equanimity Investments. The other participants of this round include 9Unicorns and ZNL.

Unremot: Consultant SaaS platform unremot has secured $700K or $0.7 million in a seed round led by Inflection Point Ventures and participated by Digital Futurists Angels Network (DFAN), ah! Ventures and Point One Capital.

OneAssure: OneAssure, an insurtech startup operated by Prost Technologies, has raised Rs 5 crore or $0.65 million in a pre-Seed funding round, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.

Dtown Robotics: Dehradun-based DTown Robotics, which provides customised product solutions in robotics, automation, and drones, has raised $0.5 million from investors in Delhi.

Tournafest: Tournafest, a one-stop destination for the gamer community in India, has secured pre-seed funding of Rs 3.05 crore or $0.46 million from a clutch of investors, including India Quotient, FirstCheque and other angel investors.

MasterChow: MasterChow, a ready-to-cook Asian cuisine brand, today announced raising more than $0.46 million (Rs 3.5 crore) in a seed round led by WEH Ventures. The round also saw participation from angel investors such as Aditya Singh and Ravi Shroff.

WeSkill: Ed-Tech firm WeSkill has raised over $0.4 million as a part of its pre-seed round from angels including Shrishti Sahu, Umang Vohra, Arpan Sheth, Nikhil Srivastava, Renu Satti, Narendra Rathi, Raj Shastri, Sayan Ghosh, Mayank Gupta, Aditya Pittie and Rajesh Razdan among others.

Fitpage: Fitness tech platform fitpage raised $3.5 million (around Rs 26.6 crore) in a seed round funding from Astra Ventures at the beginning of 2021 and has additionally raised $300,000 in an angel round recently, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

PingoLearn: Short-video based English language learning platform PingoLearn has raised Rs 2 crore or $0.26 million led by Titan Capital, Haresh Chawla and AngelList Syndicate.

BharatX: Fin-Tech platform BharatX has secured $0.25 million in a pre-seed round led by Java Capital along with LetsVenture. Angels including Anupam Mittal, Ritesh Jain, Faiz Mayalakkara and Amit Kumar Singh also participated in the round.

Gurucool: Ed-Tech startup Gurucool has raised $0.15 million in pre-seed funding from angel investor Parvez Jasani and FreeFlow Venture Builders.

Undisclosed

Evenflow, FanAnywhere, kindlife, Anur Cloud Technologies, TagMango, Gladful, Frangipani, Hyperface , The Clownfish and Spinny did not disclose their financial details.

Prosus-backed Good Glamm Group has acquired MissMalini for an undisclosed amount.

Prodapt Solutions has acquired UK-based SLR Dynamics for an undisclosed amount.

Online beauty retailer Purplle.com has acquired cosmetics and skincare brand, Faces Canada.

Teachmint has acquired Teachmore for an undisclosed amount.

Adda247 has acquired UPSC-focused edtech startup StudyIQ Education for around $20 million in a cash and stock deal.

Eve World has acquired Femcy for an undisclosed amount.

Open has acquired neo-banking platform Finin for $10 million in a cash and stock deal.

In talks

Infra.Market is in late-stage talks to acquire electrical company Halonix.

SoftBank has picked up a significant minority stake in Snapdeal-owned Unicommerce, said two people aware of the details of the transaction.
