Google, Reliance team up to bring Gemini AI Pro to Jio users

Google has struck a deal with Reliance to roll out its AI Pro subscription free of charge to Jio Unlimited 5G users for the first 18 months. The initial phase will cover users aged 18–25, with plans to extend the offer to all eligible Jio customers across India.

Under the partnership, eligible Jio users will get access to the Gemini 2.5 Pro model through the Gemini app. They will also be able to use advanced image and video generation tools powered by Nano Banana and Veo 3.1, along with extended access to NotebookLM for study and research purposes. Additionally, users will receive 2 TB of cloud storage covering Google Photos, Gmail, Drive, and WhatsApp backups on Android devices.

According to Google, the combined benefits of the subscription are valued at around Rs 35,100 per user. The offer can be activated through the MyJio app, and will be available initially to users aged between 18 and 25 years before being expanded to a broader customer base.

The collaboration comes after Reliance announced the launch of its AI unit in partnership with Google and Meta. The new unit is focused on building and integrating foundational AI technologies, with the three companies working together on model development, computing infrastructure, and deployment for large-scale use across Reliance’s digital ecosystem.
