D2C skincare brand Deconstruct has secured Rs 65 crore ($7.7 million) in funding from L’Oréal’s VC fund BOLD, V3 Ventures, and DSG Consumer Partners, with additional participation from existing investors Kalaari Capital and Beenext.

In August 2022, Deconstruct raised $2 million in its seed round from Kalaari Capital’s flagship program CXXO and Beenext.

The fresh capital will be used for product innovation and to reinforce leadership in existing segments like sunscreen and serums. The funds will also be used to establish the brand’s superiority in the gentle actives space and expand into quick commerce and retail to enhance accessibility.

Founded by Malini Adapureddy, Deconstruct provides skincare for all skin types, including sensitive skin. The brand focuses on beginner-friendly products like mattifying, gel-based sunscreens tailored for India's hot, humid climate. According to the company, this approach sets it apart by meeting the specific needs of Indian consumers in a market often shaped by global trends.

“Over the past year, we’ve helped 2Cr+ beginners start their skincare journey in the most remote pincodes. This funding empowers us to singularly focus on building highly effective yet gentle products,” said Adapureddy.

Deconstruct claims that it saw 1,000% growth in FY25, achieving an annualized net revenue of Rs 200 crore. For the fiscal year ending in March 2024, the firm registered 2.3X growth in its operating revenue to Rs 15.46 crore from Rs 6.67 crore in FY23. During the period, the firm managed to reduce its losses by 33% to Rs 4.9 crore.
