Surge, Sequoia Capital India’s accelerator program, has announced the launch of its eighth cohort, featuring 30 founders across 12 companies. Surge 08 includes startups that are building futuristic products across climate tech, AI, metaverse, digital health, new consumer brands and new models of e-commerce.

The 12 startups that made it to the eighth cohort include Arintra, AltWorld, Bifrost, Calyx Global, Diri Care, Masterchow, Metastable Materials, RedBrick AI, Requestly, Tentang Anak, Vaaree, and Meragi.

In August last year, Surge selected 15 startups for its seventh cohort of which eight were based in India.

Surge, launched in 2019, helps raise capital for the startups participating in the program. The company pumps up to $1- $3 million in pre-seed and seed rounds for early-stage startups. After the addition of the eighth cohort, the surge community has over 300 founders and 130 startups across 16 industries.

Surge 08 is currently in progress and the founders are going through a 16-week hybrid program focused on company building. Past speakers and mentors in the program include Sanjeev Bikchandani (InfoEdge), Girish Mathrubootham (Freshworks), Kunal Shah (CRED), Amrish Rau (Pinelabs), and Vijay Shekhar Sharma (Paytm) among others.
