Funding in Indian startups this week (14 Sep-19 Sep)

This week 18 Indian startups raised funding, of which 14 received a total sum of about $411 million. Among them, Dream11 raised the highest funding of about $225 million followed by MPL, which raised $75 million.

Meanwhile, funding for 4 of the total funded startups remained undisclosed.

Below is the summary of deals closed this week

Classplus: Business-to-business focused edtech startup Classplus has received $10 million as the first tranche of its ongoing funding round from Alpha Wave Incubation, RTP Global and Blume Ventures.

MPL: Mobile Premier League or MPL has raised $75 million in fresh financing led by SIG Global India Fund.

Acko: Digital insurance provider Acko has secured $60 million in its Series D funding round led by Munich Re Ventures along with the participation of existing backers including Amazon, RPS Ventures and Intact Ventures.

Dream11: Online fantasy sports platform Dream11’s parent entity, Dream Sports, has secured $225 million in a mix of primary and secondary investment led by Tiger Global Management, TPG Tech Adjacencies, Chrys Capital, and FootPath Ventures.

Airmeet: Home-grown virtual event organisation startup, Airmeet has raised $12 million in its Series A funding round led by Sequoia Capital India and Redpoint Ventures. Early backers Accel India, Venture Highway, Global Founders Capital and Gokul Rajaram also participated in the round.

CashKaro: Cashback and coupon platform CashKaro has raised $10 million in its Series B funding round led by Korea Investment Partners and existing investor Kalaari Capital.

The Moms Co: Delhi-based mom and baby care consumer goods startup The Moms Co has secured $8 million led by Saama Capital and DSG Consumer Partners. Shripad Nadkarni, Ashutosh Valani, and Priyank Shah also participated.

EkAnek: EkAnek Networks has raised $5.4 million in a Series A1 funding round led by Alpha Wave Incubation. Existing investors- Sequoia Capital India, Lightspeed India, and Matrix Partners also participated.  It would utilize the fresh proceeds to expand in Abu

Newton School: Bengaluru-based edtech startup Newton School has raised $0.65 million in a seed round of funding led by Nexus Venture Partners. Gaurav Munjal, Roman Saini, Hemesh Singh, Srinivas Anumolu, Ajay Gupta, Sahil Aggarwal and K.Ganesh also participated in the round.

Origa: Mumbai based asset leasing solutions startup Origa has raised $1 million from 500 Startups, ah! Ventures, and a few angel investors.

Dozee: Bengaluru-based healthtech startup Dozee has raised $1.6 million from Prime Venture Partners,  YourNest Venture Capital, and 3one4 Capital.

AFK Gaming: Mumbai-based e-sports news and media company, AFK Gaming has raised $0.2 million in a pre-Series A funding round from Inflection Point (IP) Ventures.

Farmers Freshzone: Agricultural-technology startup Farmers Freshzone has raised $0.47 million in funding led by IAN Fund.

Zimyo: Human resources-technology startup, Zimyo has raised $1.5 million in a seed funding round led by Beenext.

Undisclosed deals this week

Cub McPaws, Recordent, Burgerama and AnalytIQ Sports did not disclose their financial details.
