Funding in Indian startups this week (16 Sep-21 Sep)

This week 18 Indian startups raised funding, of which 12 received a total sum of about $248 million. Among them, Policybazaar raised the highest funding of $130-$150 million followed by Upstox, which raised $25 million.

Meanwhile, funding for 6 of the total funded startups remained undisclosed.

Below is the summary of deals closed this week:

PolicyBazaar: Tencent has invested around $130-150 million in PolicyBazaar at a valuation of $1.5 billion.

Upstox: Tiger Global has invested $25 million in online stock broking company Upstox.

SlicePay: Fintech startup SlicePay, which offers instant credit to students and young professionals, has raised $2.8 million debt from Japan-based Gunosy Capital and Pegasus Wings Group.

Groww: Online investment startup Groww has raised $21.4 million in a Series B funding round led by US-based fintech fund Ribbit Capital. Existing investors- Sequoia India and Y Combinator also participated in the round.

Wow! Momo: Tiger Global has led $23 million fresh round in quick-service restaurant (QSR) brands Wow! Momo.

NestAway: Goldman Sachs has pumped close to $5 million into co-living and home rental platform NestAway.

Digi-Prex: Digital pharmacy startup Digi-Prex has raised $5.5 million in a seed funding round from Khosla Ventures, Vedanta Capital, Y Combinator, Quiet Capital, SV Angel, and Justin Mateen.

Generico: Pharmacy chain Generico has raised $11 million funding in a Series A round from Lightbox. Existing investors Tomorrow Capital and Whiteboard Capital also participated.

Spacejoy: Home interior design startup Spacejoy has raised $1 million in a seed funding round from Accel Partners.

Square Yards: Online real estate brokerage platform Square Yards has raised $20 million of equity capital from Bennett Coleman & Co Limited (BCCL), Genkai Capital, Steve Melhuish, and Jani Rautiainen, among others.

Meddo: Healthtech startup Meddo has raised $3 million in a pre-series A round led by SRI Capital. GrowX Ventures, LetsVenture, Jitendra Gupta, and Venture Gurukool, among others, also participated.

PlusPin: Healthtech startup PlusPin Healthcare has raised $0.7 million in its seed round of funding from a clutch of investors of the Indian Angel Network (IAN) including former Google India head Rajan Anandan.

Undisclosed deals this week

LivePools, Blowhorn, Syntizen, Kaarya, AttainU and GigIndia did not disclose their financial details on funding.
