Funding in Indian startups this week (07-12 May)

This week nine startups received funding, of which eight received a total sum of about $79 million. Among them, Bira 91 raised the highest investment of $50 million, followed by Avaamo which raised about $14.2 million.

Meanwhile, funding for one of the total funded startups remained undisclosed.

Charcoal Eats: Quick-service restaurant (QSR) startup Charcoal Eats has raised $0.7 million in a pre-series-A round from a consortium of HNI investors.

Toppr: Edtech startup Toppr has raised $2.3 million in debt financing round led by venture debt firm Alteria Capital.

i3systems: Healthcare and life insurance-focused artificial intelligence startup i3systems has raised $1 million in seed round from Unitus Ventures. Existing investors also participated in the round.

Avaamo: Artificial intelligence startup Avaamo has raised $14.2 million in a series-A round of funding led by Intel Capital. With this fundraising, the company has, so far, raised $23.5 million.

Bira 91: Craft beer brand B9 Beverages, the maker of Bira 91 has raised $50 million from Brussels-based investment firm Sofina.

Disprz: Edtech startup Disprz, which provides products for the enterprise and online learning segment, has raised $2.5 million in Series A round from IL&FS Private Equity and existing investor Kae Capital.

Earthfood: Pune-based startup that farms and retails residue-free fruits and vegetables, has raised about $1 million seed funding from Rairah Corporation.

EasyPolicy: Ronnie Screwvala-backed Unilazer Ventures has invested $6.7 Mn – $7.43 in online insurance comparison platform EasyPolicy.

Undisclosed deals this week:

Bengaluru-based live video debate app Wishfie has raised undisclosed seed funding.
