Ride-hailing major Uber India has launched Uber Direct, its first business-to-business (B2B) logistics service in India through a partnership with ONDC.

Uber Direct allows merchants on the ONDC network to plug into Uber’s existing delivery infrastructure. At launch, the service is handling grocery deliveries for clients such as Zepto and KPN Farm Fresh, with plans to expand into restaurant deliveries, e-commerce logistics, and other categories across additional cities.

The move marks Uber’s shift beyond ride-hailing and parcel courier services, stepping into the growing demand for enterprise logistics in India. Uber India & South Asia President Prabhjeet Singh said that Uber Direct aims to offer a “plug-and-play solution” for businesses to access Uber’s delivery network without maintaining their own fleet.

Uber already operates courier services (Uber Courier and Uber Courier X) and claims these have seen strong traction among small businesses and consumers reportedly reaching millions of users across the country.

In addition to logistics, Uber’s ONDC partnership also enables features such as metro ticket booking on its app expanding its role from mobility into broader digital commerce infrastructure.
