Fintech unicorn Razorpay has appointed Prabhu Rambadran as senior vice president of engineering. Earlier, he was head of engineering at Google.

According to Razorpay, Prabhu will lead the company's engineering team across risk and intelligence, business banking, payments, customer engagement, and core infrastructure. He will also oversee the Peak XV-backed fintech’s plans to accelerate product innovation and strengthen its technology stack.

“His leadership will strengthen our tech foundation as we build AI-first platforms for the next decade of digital payments and banking,” said Shashank Kumar, cofounder and managing director of Razorpay.

Prabhu has over 18 years of experience and has held multiple leadership roles in various organisations. Prior to Google, he worked with software companies Nutanix and Microsoft across the US and India.

“What excites me most about Razorpay is its culture of relentless innovation, the drive to solve complex problems, and the opportunity to make an impact at scale. I’m thrilled to be part of this incredible team as we build secure, intelligent, and future-ready systems that shape the next wave of fintech transformation across India and Southeast Asia,” said Prabhu.

Following a strong performance in FY25, payments and business banking platform Razorpay posted a 65% year-on-year growth in its consolidated revenue to Rs 3,783 crore, compared to Rs 2,296 crore in FY24.

Razorpay has raised over $800 million from investors including Lightspeed, Tiger Global, Peak XV Partners, and GIC. After completing its reverse flip to India, the company converted into a public entity in April 2025. Recently, it also invested $30 million to acquire rewards-first UPI payments app POP.
