Digital payments platform PayU India has appointed Pramod Rao as its chief risk officer.

The development has come at a time when the firm is planning for its IPO. It’s eyeing public listing during the second half of 2025.

Prior to PayU, Rao was the fraud management head at Axis Bank. He also held senior positions at Vodafone Idea, Citibank, IDBI Bank, ICICI Bank, and HSBC.

Rao will be responsible for overseeing risk management, regulatory compliance, and strengthening the organization’s financial and operational risk framework.

PayU provides payment gateway solutions to online businesses through its technology. In India, PayU has a base of over 500,000 merchants across three business sectors: payments, credit, and PayTech. It also claims to generate over $60 billion in annualized transaction volume (TPV).

PayU has also made several senior-level appointments, with Pranav Pandya joining as its chief compliance officer, Dimple Mehta as company secretary and Rahul Bharadwaj as head of operations. It also appointed Ashok Patil as chief risk officer for its credit business.
