Ahmedabad-based spacetech startup Orbitt Space has raised $1 million in a pre-seed round led by pi Ventures, with participation from IIMA Ventures.

The proceeds will be used to advance product design, expand Orbitt’s engineering team, and begin prototype testing of its proprietary propulsion and avionics systems.

Founded in early 2025 by ex-ISRO experts Christopher Parmar and Anupam Kumar, Orbit Space is working on an air-breathing electric propulsion system and high-agility satellite bus for Ultra Low Earth Orbit (ULEO) missions.

ULEO—defined as orbits below 250 km—offers advantages like sharper imaging, lower latency, and reduced radiation exposure but remains underutilized due to high atmospheric drag. Orbitt’s solution uses residual atmospheric gases as propellant, enabling 5–7 year sustainable satellite operations without onboard fuel.

The startup is currently focused on in-lab development and qualification of its propulsion system, with in-orbit validation and commercial rollout planned in upcoming phases. The company’s 200kg-class satellite bus is designed for longevity, agility, and cost-efficiency in extreme low-orbit environments.
