In one of the major incidents of a data breach, the Karnataka education department has leaked Aadhaar details of around 5375 meritorious students. The leak includes names, caste and mobile number.
These students belonged to govt schools and predominantly class 8, who bagged the NMMS scholarship worth Rs 12,000 annually. The Aadhaar and mobile numbers were removed by the department after UIDAI was alerted.
