Go Digit General Insurance has received a fresh show cause notice from the GST department, barely months after securing relief from the Bombay High Court in a separate tax dispute.
According to a stock exchange filing, the insurer was served a demand-cum-show cause notice dated September 22, 2025, from the Office of the Commissioner, CGST Audit-I, New Delhi. The notice, received on September 23, raises a demand of Rs 150 crore along with applicable interest and a penalty of up to 25% of the tax amount.
In the disclosure filed with NSE (National Stock Exchange), Go Digit said it will file a detailed response with facts, figures, and supporting evidence within the prescribed timelines. The company clarified that there is no immediate financial or operational impact, as the matter is currently under contention.
This development comes after the Bombay High Court, in July 2025, set aside a Rs 170.29 crore GST demand raised by the Chennai South Commissionerate of GST & Central Excise.
On the financial front, during the first quarter of the ongoing fiscal year (Q1FY26), Go Digit reported Rs 1,865 crore with profits of Rs 121 crore. The company is currently trading at Rs 358.7 (as of 12.35 PM), with a total market capitalization of Rs 33,105 crore ($3.76 billion).
