E-commerce marketplace Flipkart is set to deliver medicines within 10 minutes in a bid to compete with its arch-rivals, according to a report by The Economic Times.
As per the publication, Flipkart is partnering with registered local chemists in metropolitan areas to comply with India's drug regulations, which prohibit foreign-backed e-commerce platforms from holding inventory.
Immediate queries sent to Flipkart remained unanswered at the time of publication.
Entrackr first reported on Flipkart quick commerce's foray into medicine delivery in March 2024. The service is currently live in Bengaluru, Gurugram, and select parts of Mumbai.
Recently, Swiggy Instamart began delivering medicines in 10 minutes by partnering with the e-pharmacy company PharmEasy. Meanwhile, BigBasket is reportedly planning to deliver medicines through a partnership with 1mg, which operates under the Tata Digital umbrella.
The trend indicates that more quick commerce players, such as Zepto and Blinkit, may also enter the race. According to a recent study by Motilal Oswal, Blinkit leads the quick commerce market with a 46% share, followed by Zepto at 29%, and Swiggy Instamart at 25%.
