Integrated logistics provider Delhivery has announced the official launch of its on-demand intracity delivery service, Delhivery Direct, in Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru. This follows a successful pilot in Ahmedabad.
The new service enables customers to book local deliveries with pickup in as little as 15 minutes. It supports a range of delivery needs, using two-wheelers for small parcels and three- or four-wheeler vehicles for bulkier shipments.
“We are now fully live with Delhivery Direct across NCR and Bengaluru—two of the largest markets for on-demand intracity service in India—and will rapidly expand to key metros,” said Sahil Barua, MD & CEO of Delhivery. “This launch completes the spectrum of offerings to our customers who can now use us for intracity needs as well.”
The service aims to benefit consumers, SMEs and delivery partners by providing earning opportunities and flexible working hours through Delhivery’s expansive network.
The Delhivery Direct app is available on both Google Play and Apple’s App Store. In addition to intracity shipments, it also supports intercity parcel delivery to over 18,800 pin codes across India directly from users' doorsteps.
Last month, ride-hailing giant Uber introduced Courier XL, an extension of its logistics offering that allows for the delivery of large items. With the launch of Delhivery Direct, Delhivery enters direct competition with Porter, which recently achieved unicorn status following a $200 million Series E funding round. Other players in this segment include Borzo and Mover. The service will also compete with Rapido in the two-wheeler courier space.
