Edtech firm Allen Career Institute has appointed Rakesh Ranjan as the Chief Executive Officer of Allen Online, its digital-first arm. In his new role, Ranjan will lead Allen’s technology-driven strategy to deliver learning outcomes at scale across India.
Ranjan brings nearly two decades of experience in building and scaling high-growth businesses. At Zomato, he served as CEO of the food delivery business, where he steered the company toward profitability and market leadership. He also launched and scaled Hyperpure, Zomato’s B2B supply chain vertical, into a large business in less than two years.
Before Zomato, Ranjan worked with Boston Consulting Group (BCG), advising top Indian conglomerates on digital and operational transformation.
He will succeed Abha Maheshwari, a former Meta executive, who stepped down as CEO of Allen Digital after two years in the role.
Founded in 1988 by Rajesh Maheshwari, Allen has built an offline network of more than 300 centers across 65 cities, supporting lakhs of aspirants in JEE, NEET, Olympiads, and foundational studies.
Through Allen Online, the company is expanding its pedagogy with AI-powered assessments, content, and student support. The platform resolves over one million queries monthly with nearly 99% accuracy, and in 2025, its AI-driven systems even secured an AIR-equivalent rank of 8 in NEET.
Allen Online has already helped thousands of students gain admission to IITs and leading medical colleges, including AIIMS.
For FY24, the company’s revenue grew 42% year-on-year to Rs 3,244.7 crore, driven by strong offline enrolments and an expanding digital footprint. However, its profit fell 44% to Rs 136 crore during the same period.
