Exclusive: BharatPe’s CMO Parth Joshi quits to start his own venture

As per data compiled by TheKredible, former BharatPe’s executives and employees have launched nearly one dozen new ventures (including startups and venture funds) in the past couple of years.

BharatPe’s Chief Marketing Officer, Parth Joshi, has resigned to launch his own venture, according to sources familiar with the matter. Joshi joins a growing list of BharatPe executives who have departed in recent years to explore entrepreneurial opportunities.

Joshi was appointed as BharatPe's CMO in June 2021. Before joining the fintech unicorn, he served as Head of Marketing at Reckitt for over five years. In the past, he also spent three years each at GSK and L’Oréal.

As per sources, Joshi is on notice period.

Confirming the development to Entrackr, a ​​BharatPe Spokesperson said, "Parth Joshi has decided to embark on his entrepreneurial journey, and we respect his decision. At BharatPe, we take pride in fostering a culture that nurtures innovation, leadership, and entrepreneurship. We are always supportive of individuals who aspire to create meaningful impact, and we wish Parth the very best in his new endeavor."

The development follows the recent exits of BharatPe’s Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), Smriti Handa, and Chief Data Scientist, Ritesh Mohan Srivastava. Handa is set to pursue career opportunities abroad, while Srivastava has chosen to focus on his entrepreneurial ambitions.

In April 2024, Ankur Jain, the former chief product officer of fintech company BharatPe, launched his new startup Jivi.ai in the field of AI healthcare. Genwise, launched by former BharatPe’s executives Rajat Jain, Geetanshu Singla and Nehul Malhotra, raised money in April 2023.

Third Unicorn, floated by former BharatPe co-founder and MD Ashneer Grover and his wife Madhuri Jain, launched fantasy sports platform CrickPe and fintech startup ZeroPe. Bhavik Koladiya, another co-founder of the company, joined SaaS startup OTPless as CEO. Suhail Sameer, who served as CEO of BharatPe, is serving venture capital firm OTP Venture as managing partner.

The list includes Dhruv Dhanraj Bahl’s Eternal Capital which recently launched a $14.5 million VC fund, Saurabh Bhatnagar's BulkPe and Puneet Sharma’s VegaPay, and Vijay Aggarwal’s CubeAPM.

Recently, BharatPe chief executive Nalin Negi said that the company is planning to launch its initial share sale in the next 18-24 months. For the fiscal year ended in March 2024, the firm reported Rs 1,426 crore in revenue while reducing its consolidated losses by 50% to Rs 474 crore.
