Beyond scoops and numbers: Entrackr launches ‘Not Just Business’

For founders, the journey is rarely linear. It’s often a steep learning curve in an ecosystem that leaves little room for error and demands intense focus just to survive, let alone succeed.

It was over 15 years ago that I started covering, and tracking startups in India, of which the last nine years have been at Entrackr. Starting Entrackr itself was acting on a firm belief I had that the startup ecosystem in India needed to be reported based on tangibles, and not just intent or even hype, as we are so prone to do in India. That explains the extreme focus on stories that were told with numbers as the primary input, be it decoding businesses, the numbers behind growth, the stories behind funding rounds, and the decisions shaping India’s startup ecosystem.

Fifteen years on, Not Just Business comes with the benefit of hindsight and learnings from conversations with hundreds, no, thousands of founders that my team and I have interacted with. As we add video to our text reporting with Not Just Business, this is about more than a new medium and about moving beyond numbers and usual business conversations.

Because the idea that people make the difference isn’t a cliché in India, it’s decisive. We’ve seen companies succeed or flounder not just because of strategy or capital, but because of how founders handled success, growth and funding: new ideas, the ability to scale, leadership decisions, team dynamics, and innovation that quietly reshaped processes.

For founders, the journey is rarely linear. It’s often a steep learning curve in an ecosystem that leaves little room for error and demands intense focus just to survive, let alone succeed. Even today, we see companies struggle during scale-up because founders need time to adapt to a reality where team sizes grow 3X or 5X. Many founders who thrive in early-stage, controlled chaos find it difficult to transition to systems, structure, and consolidation.

Contrary to popular narratives, the founder's journey is rarely “exhilarating” or “exciting.” It is far more nuanced, demanding, and personal.

Not Just Business, Entrackr’s new podcast initiative, comes in to inform you about just this journey.

Stepping beyond balance sheets, scoops, and exclusives, the podcast seeks to explore these deeper layers. While business fundamentals remain central, the show goes further: into personal journeys, early struggles, belief systems, failures, and the moments that quietly shaped companies long before headlines did.

🎙️ The first episode of Not Just Business, featuring AstroTalk, is now live.

This initiative represents a natural evolution for Entrackr. While we will continue delivering sharp reporting we are known for, the podcast creates space for reflection and nuance, something fast-moving news cycles rarely allow.

In an ecosystem obsessed with scale and valuation, Not Just Business is Entrackr’s attempt to pause, listen, and understand the journeys behind the companies shaping India’s startup story.
