Online fresh fish and meat retailer Zappfresh has acquired Bonsaro, a Mumbai-based firm focussed in the online delivery of poultry, goat, and seafood.
This is the second acquisition by the Gurugram-based company. In July 2023, it had acquired Sukos Foods-owned Dr. Meat.
With the acquisition of Bonsaro, Zappfresh has taken over the entire operations and business of the company, including all assets, to expand its presence in the western region. It will enhance its brand presence and operational capabilities in the western region.
Founded by Sachin Shetty and Vinay D’silva, Bonsaro specializes in delivering seafood, red meat, and other poultry items in various cuts and forms, enabling customers to have non-vegetarian food requirements by easing experience.
In the next six months, Zappfresh plans to invest in and build upon Bonsaro’s existing operations, focusing on enhancing the customer experience and expanding product offerings. The company also aims to enter new markets within the region, including Navi Mumbai, Pune, and other satellite towns, within the next year.
Zappfresh is yet to file its financial results for FY24 but its revenue from operations was flat at Rs 56 crore during the fiscal year ended March 2023. The firm posted a profit of Rs 11 crore in the same period.
As per Entrackr’s sources, Zappfresh is likely to go IPO in the last leg of the ongoing financial year (FY25). It also turned into a public entity in May this year.
