Kisankonnect, a fully integrated fresh produce agritech startup, has raised Rs 31 crore (approximately $3.75 million) in a pre-series A round led by climate tech-focused fund Green Frontier Capital (GFC).
The round also saw participation from Dhanuka Agritech Limited, a leading crop protection company in India, along with VC Grid and other family offices.
The Ahmednagar-based company intends to use the money to increase its activities in climate-smart agriculture interventions with its 5,000 farmers, strengthen its fresh-produce supply chain technology and add new farm stores to the existing one in Mumbai and Pune.
Founded in 2020, Kisankonnect sources directly from farmers and phygitally delivers to more than 1 lakh customers in Mumbai and Pune through its own D2C App and Farm-stores. It works closely with farmers’ community to grow food sustainably, while leveraging its in-house built technology to deliver customers fresh vegetables and fruits through its delivery channel.
The firm also produces and sells curated agri-produce and hand-made snacks through its ‘Village Staples’ and ‘Mom’s Kitchen’ categories. These are produced exclusively by rural women in a hygienic central kitchen.
In May 2023, Kisanconnect raised undisclosed funding from celebrity Shilpa Shetty in its angel round.
