Edtech giant Byju’s has announced the appointment of Arjun Mohan as the CEO of India operations. He succeeds Mrinal Mohit, founding partner and the outgoing head of India business at the Bengaluru-based company.

Mohan, who was a part of the founding team and last served as the Chief Business Officer at Byju’s, rejoined the company recently. Before joining Byju’s, he served as the chief executive officer of another edtech unicorn, upGrad.

While it was reported that Mohan will lead the international business of Byju’s, he refuted the news and said that he hasn’t been roped in for the same.

“...While challenges are aplenty, I am ready to play my role in helping Byju’s empower our current and future generations to thrive in a rapidly changing world,” said Mohan in a press statement.

Last month, Byju’s saw the exits of three senior executives: Prathyusha Agarwal (chief business officer), Mukut Deepak (head of class 4-10 business) and Himanshu Bajaj (head of the tuition centers).

After being hit by several issues such as auditor exit, resignations of lead board members, and layoffs, Byju’s also set up a board advisory committee (BAC) to advise founder and CEO Raveendran on the composition of the board and an appropriate governance structure for the edtech firm.
