Reference-based tech talent hiring platform Weekday has raised $2.2 million in a seed round led by Venture Highway and several angels. The proceeds will be deployed towards its footprint in the engineering market and its expansion into other verticals, said the company in a press release.
Founded in 2021 by Amit Singh, Anubav Malik, and Chetan Dalal, Weekday is a sourcing engine which writes email to prospective candidates, shortlists potential hires and schedules interviews on behalf of hirer. The company also does reference check
According to the company, over 120 companies have used Weekday for their hiring and they are attracted by the large pool of passive candidates (those who are not actively looking for a new role) who have been recommended by their peers.
Based in San Francisco, Weekday has a sizable workforce in Bengaluru. Over the next two years, the firm expects to aggregate 250,000 plus active job seekers and around 2 million passive seekers, backed by peer references for recruiters.
Weekday’s offerings overlap with many companies but reference-based hiring is a relatively new concept and there are a few companies including Bengaluru-based Monet.
