Front-end devtools startup Kombai has raised $4.5 million in a seed round led by Stellaris Venture Partners and Foundation Capital. The funding also saw participation from some chief technology officers and software startup executives as angel investors.
According to Kombai, the funds will be used to continue investing in research and development, build compatibility with a range of libraries and frameworks and elevate the developer experience around the product.
Founded by Dipanjan Dey and Abhijit Bhole, Kombai builds new artificial intelligence models that can understand and code user interface (UI) designs like humans. It is also set to launch its public research preview on Wednesday.
The UI code can then be downloaded or copied into integrated development environments, modified and incorporated in codebases.
Over the past six months, Pune-based Kombai claims to have engaged with more than 500 developers as part of its private research preview.
Last month, Stellaris led a $3.6 million pre-Series A funding round in business-to-business (B2B) analytics software firm Factors.ai.
