Consumer cloud computer developer Selligion Technologies has secured Rs 5 crore in a pre-Series A round. Malpani Venture is leading the round with an investment of Rs 3 crore, with the remaining investment being contributed by entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and investors from India, Singapore, and USA.
Selligion Technologies had previously raised Rs 3 crore in a seed round co-led by angel investors and startup founders including Alvin Tse and Prashant Priya.
The funds will be used for research and development and to augment the manufacturing efforts for Selligion’s next phase of expansion, Selligion Technologies said in a press release.
Co-founded in 2020 by Naman Chakraborty, Apeksha Mehta and Joby John, Selligion has conceptualised, designed and developed Praho, a direct-to-consumer hybrid cloud-based computer. It aims to enable every Indian to access affordable computers and the opportunities that come with it. The company says that Praho will first be made available to Indian students for just Rs 399 or less to enable them to study, learn, browse, and code. Praho runs on Selligion Abacca OS.
According to Selligion Technologies, it aims to increase manufacturing capacity multi-fold - allowing it to reach more than 1 lakh students by March 2024. Through its subscription-based model, the company is about to provide affordable and accessible advanced computers to students across India. These devices will serve as catalysts for their growth, equipping them with the necessary digital skills to pursue rewarding careers.
