Blue-collar workforce management firm BetterPlace has acquired TROOPERS, Malaysia’s flexi talent solutions technology player for an undisclosed amount.

BetterPlace's acquisition of TROOPERS will ramp up its presence in the region and establish a stronger foothold in Southeast Asia, the company said in a statement. The acquisition will integrate TROOPERS' automated gig matching and rostering features into BetterPlace's comprehensive SaaS platform.

TROOPERS offers on-demand, pre-screened, part-time frontline workers to enterprises, enabling them to scale up their gig workforce based on operational demands. According to the company, it has helped over 50,000 gig workers in Malaysia find gig opportunities since its inception.

Founded in 2015 by Agarwala and Uday Singh, BetterPlace offers a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform. The platform helps its clients in handling the entire lifecycle of their blue-collar workforce by providing them with hiring, background verification and digital onboarding services. The platform also provides training, attendance management, payroll services, and compliance services.

BetterPlace claims that it reported a five-fold growth in revenue to Rs 275 crore in FY22. The company is also targeting to achieve a three-fold growth in revenue in FY23.

The acquisition of TROOPERS follows BetterPlace’s recent expansion in the region. In February 2023, BetterPlace acquired Indonesia’s leading blue collar workforce fulfillment platform, MyRobin, marking the company’s first foray into the Southeast Asian region. The firm also scooped up $40 million as part of Series C+ fundraise from new and existing investors including Jungle Ventures and British International Investment in December last year.
