Home service marketplace Urban Company has topped the list of fair work ratings, according to a research report by Fairwork India Ratings 2022. The Gurugram-based firm scored the highest with 7 out of 10.
Last year Urban Company stood second.
The research platform gives points on the basis of fair pay, fair conditions, fair contracts, fair management, and fair representation. The firm has evaluated 12 platforms offering location-based services in sectors such as domestic and personal care, logistics, food delivery, e-pharmacy, and transportation in India.
According to the report, Tata Group-owned BigBasket, e-commerce marketplace Flipkart, and foodtech majors Swiggy and Zomato are in the top five list with 6,5,5, and 4 points respectively.
On the other side, ride-hailing companies Uber and Ola, quick commerce platform Dunzo, online pharmacy PharmEasy, and delivery platform Amazon Flex did not score any points and were judged poorest in providing working conditions for gig workers.
Another quick commerce platform Zepto managed to get 2 out of 10 points while intra logistics company Porter scored only 1. The report also highlighted that no platform scored more than seven out of the maximum of ten points, and none scored all the first points across the five principles.
