Local butcher stores sourcing and tech enabling startup The Meat Chop has secured Rs 7 crore led by Mohan K, Ankur Agarwal, Meenakshi Sundaram, Jaikumar R, Rahul Mahipal, Omar Bin Brek, Amith D’Souza and other angel investors.

The proceeds will be deployed for expansion, building team and brand, and strengthening technology and supply chain infrastructure, The Meat Chop said in a press release.

Founded by Appaas, Kalyan, Navas and Yasar in 2021, The Meat Chop manages procurement, marketing, promotions and merchandising for the butcher stores on its platform through a tech stack. The platform addresses the unorganised, poor sourcing and unhygienic  stores problems by creating a platform that brings together the farms, fisherfolks, butcher shops and end consumer.

The Meat Chop aims to solve the low margin low profit problem faced by the stakeholders in the crowded value chain using an integrated tech stack platform.

The Chennai based meat sourcing platform claims to have witnessed a 50% to 60% growth in sales volume, reducing dump by 90%. Licious and FreshToHome are relatively larger players in this space while Zappfresh, Meatwale, TenderCuts, Fipola, Good To Go, Meatigo, Jagfresh and Grubsoul operate in select cities.

Recently, Patna-based online meat delivery startup Freshsharp secured seed fund from angel investors.
