Direct to consumer kidswear brand Kidbea has raised Rs 1.5 crore in a seed round led by Agility Ventures along with participation from Nandi Mehta, Tapas Sahu, Divij Bajaj, Abhishek Kochhar and Vivekananda Nareddula.
The proceeds will be deployed to expand the team, strengthen marketing efforts and improve research and development activities within the Indian kidswear space, Kidbea said in a press release.
Founded in 2021 by Swapnil Srivastav Mohammed Hussain, and Aman Kumar Mahto, Kidbea manufactures antibacterial and soft kidswear and has patented spill-proof and fragrance technology. It aims to provide non-toxic sustainable products for newborns to toddlers. The company sells its products through its own platform and marketplaces such as Amazon, Myntra, FirstCry, Meesho, Hopscotch.
Kidbea has raised a total of Rs 2 crore across four rounds including an undisclosed sum in March this year. The company competes with SuperBottoms which raised Rs 22.5 crore in Series A round, Chennai Angels-backed Bumberry and Allter among several niche and horizontal players.
Angel fund Agility Ventures has about 35 companies in its portfolio. In January, the fund received approvals from SEBI for an angel fund worth Rs 450 crore that will be deployed over the next 3-4 years. Its recent investments include healthcare startup Glamyo Health and Shiprocket, which turned unicorn in August.
