Funding and acquisitions in Indian startups this week [12-17 Sep]

This week, 36 Indian startups raised funding of which 31 received a total of about $246 million. Yulu and DotPe were the top fundraisers.

This week, 36 Indian startups raised funding of which 31 received a total of about $246 million. Yulu and DotPe were the top fundraisers which scooped up $82 million and $55 million respectively. Last week, 36 homegrown startups raised funding worth about $231 million

Meanwhile, the funding of five of the total funded startups remained undisclosed. 

Growth/late-stage deals 

This week, five growth stage startups raised their new funding which includes EV startup Yulu’s $82 million round and e-commerce enablement DotPe’s $55 million round.

Early-stage deals 

In the early-stage, 31 startups have raised funds which also include five undisclosed rounds. AI startup Rephrase.ai was on top of the list with a $10.6 million Series A round. The list also includes retail store development startup 91Squarefeet and another AI startup Awiros.

Undisclosed deals    

EVeez, Nawgati, MyLang and Ivyclique did not disclose their financial details.   

City and segment-wise fundings   

This week, Bengaluru-based startups were on top in terms of the number of startup deals and the amount raised by them. According to Fintrackr’s data, 15 Bengaluru-based startups have raised funds this week amounting to $130.4 million or 53.12% of the total funding. During the week, Delhi-NCR-based startups raised $85.5 million across 9 deals.

AI startups were the top segment in terms of the number of deals as startups in this space raised $30.6 million across 4 deals. EV, fintech, SaaS, D2C brands and foodtech startups were next on the list. 

Mergers and acquisitions

Apart from the fundraisings, the week also saw two acquisitions. The list includes the acquisition of healthy food startup MyFitness by Mensa Brands and Centum Learning by upGrad.
