Funding and acquisition in Indian startups this week [28 Mar-02 Apr]

This week 33 Indian startups raised funding, of which 31 received a total of about $688.11  million. Builder.ai raised the highest funding of about $100 million, followed by Games24x7 and ClassPlus which raised $75 million and $70 million respectively. Last week, 38 homegrown startups raised funding worth about $600 million.  

Meanwhile, the funding of two of the total funded startups remained undisclosed. 

Growth/late stage deals 

This week, 11 growth and late-stage startups have scooped up funds which include Builder.ai’s Series C round of $100 million, Game24x7’s $75 million unicorn round and Classplus’s $70 million round.

Early-stage deals

In the early-stage deals, 20 startups have raised funds which also include two undisclosed rounds. Supply chain startup Wiz Freight was on top of the list with a $36 million Series A round. The list also includes spacetech startup Pixxel, fintech startups CARD91, OneCode and SaaS startup EdgeGrid.

Undisclosed deals

Yoro and TrustCheckr did not disclose their financial details. 

City and segment-wise fundings

This week Bengaluru was on top in terms of the number of startup deals and the amount raised by them. According to Fintrackr’s data, 12 Bengaluru-based startups have raised funds this week amounting to $173.53 million or $25.22% of the total funding. During the week, Delhi-NCR-based startups raised $258.15 million across 8 deals, followed by Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai and Ahmedabad with 6, 3, 2 and 1 deals respectively.

SaaS startups were the top segment in terms of the number of deals as 6 startups in this space raised $57.78 million. Fintech, healthtech and D2C brands were next on the list.

Acquisitions this week

The week saw six acquisitions. The list includes the acquisition of PrepBytes by CollegeDekho, Appnit by DMI Finance, Vogo by Chalo,  Singularity Automation by Stanza Living, INI Farms by Agrostar and Fused Training by Phablecare.

ESOP buybacks this week 

Apart from fundraising and acquisitions, the week also saw one ESOP buyback announcement of Pine Labs worth $13.5 million.
