Edtech startup Wise has raised $5 million led by James Beshara alongside a clutch of angels and VC funds including Weekend Fund, Shrug Capital, RemoteFirst Capital, Taurus VC, Operators Partners as well as William Hockey and Ankur Nagpal (founder Teachable, Vibe Capital).
Launched in August 2020 by Bilal Abidi and Mubeen Masudi, Wise allows educators to set up their online classrooms easily.The platform has amassed over 2 million users with over 700k monthly active users.
The company is now looking to expand globally and build solutions for not just individual tutors but also 100s of tutoring businesses which are already using the free to use platform.
As per Fintrackr’s report on startup funding, edtech was the largest funded segment in which startups raised over $5 billion across 141 funding rounds.
