Edtech giant upGrad has entered into an exclusive agreement to acquire online higher education company Talentedge.

Gurugram-based Talentedge offers more than 60 courses in partnership with over 20 universities including IIMs, XLRI, MICA, eCornell, UCLA among others, and has more than 5,00,000 individual and corporate learners. 

Talentedge is expected to rake in a revenue of over Rs 130 crore and double that next year. According to sources, the deal value is at 3-4X this year’s revenue.

UpGrad has a learner base of over 2 million across 50 countries and over 300 university partners. It has a client base of 1000 companies worldwide.

The company is on an acquisition spree. Last week, it acquired Australia-based Global Study Partner in a $16 million deal. 

The top edtech players have collectively acquired over 15 startups in this segment in 2021. Byju’s has already acquired nine startups and is in talks with two more startups for a potential acquisition. The second-largest valued edtech company Unacademy has also taken over five startups this year including Swiflearn, Spayee, Rheo Tv, Handa Ka Funda and Tapchief.

Edtech unicorn Vedantu has also added two startups Pedagogy and Instasolv Since January this year.
