E-commerce giant Flipkart is set to acquire a majority stake in Kolkata-based SastaSundar, which offers a digital healthcare and pharmacy platform.
Though the deal size was undisclosed, Flipkart announced that it is planning to enter the healthcare space through the launch of Flipkart Health.
Flipkart Health will leverage the combined strength of Flipkart group's pan India reach and technical capabilities and SastaSundar's expertise in the health-tech space.
SastaSundar is backed by Japanese investors such as Mitsubishi Corporation and Rohto Pharmaceuticals. The online healthcare marketplace has a network of 490 pharmacies and was reportedly planning to raise a larger round.
