Edtech firm 88academics has raised $3 million in its pre-Series A round led by Aarin Capital Partners. Piyush Gupta, Vinod Gupta, P S Jayakumar, Ramesh Swaminathan and others have also participated in the round.
According to the Delhi-based 88academics, the funds will be used to develop India specific content for the K-12 segment.
88academics, which is part of Singapore-based 88tuition, has partnered with names like DBS Bank, Singapore Indian Development Association, and People Association. It is also likely to partner with Manila which is the capital of the Philippines.
Founded by former 3i Asia head Anil Ahuja, 88academics provides students high-quality enrichment for English, Maths, Science, Information Technology, and Mother tongue. The key features of its education model include the basis of content, latest technology, employment generation and affordable price.
The edtech space has seen strong growth globally with the Covid-19 pandemic serving as an inflection point. Many offline classes went online to ensure continuity of education while adhering to social distancing norms.
