AppsForBharat, a product studio focused on building apps for spiritual and devotional needs of Indian users, has raised $4 million in seed funding co-led by Sequoia Capital India and BEENEXT. The round also saw participation from WEH Ventures.
Entrackr had exclusively reported that AppsForBharat is in the advanced stage to raise $4 million from Sequoia and Beenext.
The funds will primarily be used for product development and hiring tech talent, said AppsForBharat in a release.
Founded in November 2020 by Prashant Sachan, AppsForBharat is currently developing a range of mobile apps that offer superior user experience and cater to the country's many underserved and often overlooked spiritual as well as devotional needs. Sachan was the co-founder of the lifestyle centric short video app Trell until March 2021.
According to Entrackr’s sources, AppsForBharat’s maiden app, which is in stealth mode, would centre around devotional space and provide daily aarti, chalisa, panchang, horoscope among others.
At present, Sutradhar, MyMandir, 27 Mantra among a few others are notable players in the devotional and religious domains.
