Funding in Indian startups this week (11 Jan-16 Jan)

This week 21 Indian startups raised funding, of which 17 received a total sum of about $122 million. Among them, La Renon raised the highest funding of about $30 million followed by BharatPe, which raised around $19 million.

Meanwhile, funding for 4 of the total funded startups remained undisclosed.

Below is the summary of deals closed this week

La Renon: A91 Partners, floated by former Sequoia Capital’s managing directors VT Bharadwaj, Gautam Mago and Abhay Pandey, has pumped in $30 million in Ahmedabad-based pharma company La Renon.

CoinSwitch Kuber: Cryptocurrency investment platform CoinSwitch Kuber has raised $15 million or Rs 109 crore in its Series A funding round led by US-based fintech fund Ribbit Capital and San-Francisco based investment firm Paradigm.

Digit Insurance: General insurance provider Digit Insurance has become the latest entrant to the unicorn club with a fresh infusion of Rs $18.5 million from existing investors.

BharatPe: Merchant focused QR code-based payments firm BharatPe has secured Rs 140 crore or $19 million in debt from ICICI Bank and Alteria Capital. Last week, the company had raised Rs 60 crore in debt from Innoven Capital.

Siply: Fintech startup Siply has secured $1 million in a seed round led by Inflection Point Ventures. The fresh funds will be utilized for team expansion, scaling up technology, and conducting initial pilots with its partners.

Vanity Wagon: Organic beauty marketplace Vanity Wagon has raised $0.2 million in a seed round led by Agility Venture Partners, Alfa Ventures founder Dhianu Das, actor Anita Hassanandani and angel investor Sanjay Nagi.

Nao Spirits: Nao Spirits, the maker of Indian craft gin brands Greater Than and Hapusa, has raised $2 million in a Series A funding round.

KIWI: On-demand talent network KIWI has raised $0.2 million in seed funding from PointOne Capital, Core91 VC, AppyHigh, and other angel investors.

Knocksense: Local content production platform Knocksense has raised $0.2 million in an angel round led by Mohit Satyanand from LetsVenture, We Founder Circle and other angel investors.

ReadyAssist: Bengaluru-based roadside assistance (RSA) startup, ReadyAssist has raised $1 million in seed funding from a clutch of angel investors.

Ergos: Agritech startup Ergos has raised $3 million from United Kingdom’s CDC Group to close its Rs 81-crore Series A funding round.

Chalo: Public transport technology startup Chalo today said that it has raised $7 million from US-based Raine Ventures.

VComply: Risk and compliance management platform VComplY has raised $6 million in Series A funding from Accel and Counterpart Ventures.

Infra.Market: InnoVen Capital has invested $6.8 million in business-to-business materials marketplace Infra.Market.

Karkhana.io: Business-to-business on-demand manufacturing platform Karkhana.io has raised $1.5 million in a seed funding round led by Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia (SEA) and India.

Bizongo: Packaging materials marketplace Bizongo has raised $9.3 million n a growth funding round from Accel, International Finance Corporation, IDG Ventures, Chiratae and Swiss hedge fund Schroeder Adveq.

True Elements: Clean label health foods brand True Elements has raised $1.36 million in funding from Maharashtra State Social Venture Fund (MSSVF).

Undisclosed deals this week

TresMoto, PurpleTutor, Wright Research and Rage Coffee did not disclose their financial details.
