Funding in Indian startups this week (07 Sep-12 Sep)

This week 19 Indian startups raised funding, of which 12 received a total sum of about $674 million. Among them, Byju’s raised the highest funding of about $500 million followed by Zomato, which raised $102.5 million.

Meanwhile, funding for 7 of the total funded startups remained undisclosed.

Below is the summary of deals closed this week

Zomato: Foodtech major Zomato has raised Rs 760 crore or $102.5 million in its Series J funding round from Tiger Global Management. This fresh tranche has come after the company closed a $62 million fund from Temasek’s MacRitchie Investments.

Byju’s: Edtech firm Byju’s has raised $500 million in fresh financing led by Silver Lake. This is the fifth tranche in Series F round for the Bengaluru-based company.

Groww: Millenials and first-time investors focused wealth management platform, Groww has scooped up $30 million in its Series C round of funding led by Y Combinator’s growth-stage investment fund Continuity.

Hippo Video: Cloud-based video CX platform, Hippo Video has secured $4.5 million in a Series A round led by Alpha Wave Incubation and Exfinity Venture Partners. Existing investors – Sequoia’s Surge and KAE Capital also participated.

BluSmart: Electric cab-hailing app BluSmart has raised $7 million~ Rs 51 crore in a pre-Series A round from Inflection Point Ventures, Venture Catalysts, Survam Partners, Mumbai Angels, Chhatisgarh Investments, JITO Angels, Lets Venture Fund, and Kaplavriksh Fund.

Pitstop: Insurtech firm Acko has invested $1.2 million in car service and repair platform Pitstop.

Hasura: Developer tooling startup Hasura has raised $25 million in Series B round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners.

QShala: Zerodha-backed fund Rainmatter Capital has led a $0.36 million investment in child-focused learning firm QShala.

Deepsync Technologies: Chandigarh-based Deepsync Technologies has raised about $0.3 million from angel funds – Anicut Angel Fund, 9Unicorns and Firstcheque.

Spoonshot: Online platform that spots and predicts food trends, has raised $1 million in seed round led by SRI Capital.

i3 Systems: Mumbai-based insurance-tech startup, i3 Systems has raised $1.5 million from Unitus Ventures in a pre-Series A round.

Market Pulse: Market analysis platform, Market Pulse has raised $0.75 million in pre-Series A round led by HNI investors Ameet Desai and others

Undisclosed deals this week

CustomFit.ai, SOAL, ConnectedH, Cell Propulsion, LetsUp App, OckyPocky and Fantasy Akhada did not disclose their financial details.
