Times Internet’s Chief Strategy Officer Miten Sampat has decided to move on after a seven year-long stint at the Gurugram-headquartered company, said three sources aware of the development.
“Sampat is serving his notice period and July will be the last working month for him,” said one of the sources on condition of anonymity. “The management has tried to retain him but he made up his mind.”
Sampat has played a great role in transforming Times Internet and is one of the most trusted lieutenants of its vice-chairman Satyan Gajwani. Gajwani brought him just after he took over the role of chief executive of the digital arm of Times Group in 2012.
Sources said that Sampat is yet to finalise his next gig and likely to take a break of a few months. According to his LinkedIn profile, he joined Times Internet as the business head of Times City in 2013. Sampat has focused on growing Times Internet through investments, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships.
Entrackr’s queries toTimes Internet is yet to receive any response while Sampat tweeted about his exit.
Sampat and his team led 15 acquisitions and 10 minority investments for Times Internet. He’s also a board member at MX Player, ET-Money, Dineout, Haptik, OML, Shuttl and Myra, among others. He has also been an active angel investor across Indian, US and Southeast Asian startups for the past eight years.
His notable investments include Haptik, KawaSpace, Invideo and Third Wave Coffee Roasters. Sampat is an alumnus of Virginia Tech with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in computer science.
Finding a replacement for Sampat won’t be an easy task for Times Internet. Under his leadership, the company’s strategy worked well in terms of investments, acquisitions and partnerships.
