Funding in Indian startups this week (17 Dec-22 Dec )

This week 20 Indian startups received funding, of which 15 received a total sum of about $1.8 billion. Among them, Swiggy raised the highest funding of about $1 billion followed by Byju’s, which raised $540 million.

Meanwhile, funding for 5 of the total funded startups remained undisclosed.

Shop101: Social commerce platform Shop101 has raised $11.3 million in its Series B round led by Kalaari Capital and Unilever Ventures.

DataTrained: Edtech startups DataTrained has raised $1.7 million fresh funding from high net worth individuals.

Swiggy: Foodtech major Swiggy has raised a staggering $1 billion round led by Naspers. The financing round that valued Swiggy in tune of $3.3 billion also participated by three new investors including Tencent, Hillhouse Capital, and Wellington Management.

Milkbasket: Milktech and micro-delivery major Milkbasket has scored yet another $7 million round, this time, led by US-based venture capital Mayfield Fund.

Toppr: Edtech startup Toppr has raked in $35 million Series C round from  Kaizen Private Equity and existing investors Eight Roads Ventures, Helion Ventures, and SAIF Partners.

Vogo: Cab-hailing major Ola has invested $100 million (mix of equity and debt financing) in scooter sharing startup Vogo.

Mobikwik: Digital payments company Mobikwik has raised a little over $3 million (about Rs 24 crore) in a bridge round led by Sequoia Capital.

Moglix: B2B industrial goods marketplace Moglix has raised $23 million in its Series C round led by existing investors Accel Partner US and International Finance Corporation (IFC).

NoPaperForms: Info Edge has pumped $3.98 million in NoPaperForms, one of its portfolio companies in an all-cash deal. Following the Series B round, Info Edge will increase its stake to 48.1 per cent in the enrolment solutions provider for institutions.

Byju’s: Within a week of various speculations over funding and valuation, edtech Unicorn Byju’s has lifted the curtain on its latest fundraising. The Bengaluru-based firm has scooped up $540 million in a fresh round led by Naspers.

Vivriti Capital: Chennai-based lending platform for corporate entities Vivriti Capital has raised $28.5 million Series A equity funding from Creation Investments.

LetsTransport: Bengaluru-based logistics platform LetsTransport has raised $14.2 million Series B fund from Bertelsmann India Investments.

Generico: Mumbai-based medtech startup Generico has raised $3 million in Series A funding from Tomorrow Capital and Whiteboard Capital.

Portea: Bengaluru-based healthcare startup Portea has raised $3.6 million venture debt led by Alteria Capital.

d.light: Solar product maker d.light has raised $41 million in equity financing from a consortium led by African-focussed investment advisory firm, Inspired Evolution.

Undisclosed deals this week

Fintech startup CityCash, foods startup NutriSattva, diagnostics startup OmiX Labs, vernacular social network Khidki, and edtech startup Stones2Milestones did not disclose their financial details on funding.
