Sequoia, Saama and DSG top up Raw Pressery with $10 Mn fresh fund

Cold-pressed juice manufacturer Raw Pressery has raised $10 million in another round of funding from existing investors Sequoia Capital, Saama Capital and DSG Consumer Partners. The trio had invested $6 million in the organic juice startup in October, last year.

The fresh capital will allow the Mumbai-based startup to expand its international footprint to Southeast Asian cities such as Singapore and then Kuala Lumpur by early next year.

Besides, Raw Pressery is also in the process of setting up a production plant in West Asia to strengthen its recently launched operations in Qatar, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai reports ET.

Founded in 2013 by Anuj Rakyan, Raw Pressery has raised about Rs 152 crore in earlier rounds. According to an ET report, it is also in talks with family offices and institutional investors to raise an additional $5 million as part of this funding round. The fundraise is expected to get through within two months.

Apart from aforementioned investors, the startup has also raised an undisclosed funding from Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez.

Raw Pressery offers premium category cold-pressed juices and smoothies. It has 2,000 retail touch points in the country and aims to achieve 6,000 by FY19. The startup sells its products in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Chennai, among others.

The company revenue has been growing since inception. In FY16 the operational revenue was Rs 6.3 crore which saw 140 per cent increase to Rs 15.1 crore in FY17. Further, it claims to maintain the pace of revenue with 120 per cent business growth during FY18.

Continuing the growth momentum in the current fiscal,  it’s eyeing a revenue growth of about 112 per cent.

Last month, DSG Consumer Partners led $500K seed round in Cold brew coffee e-tailer Sleepy Owl.
