In a shocking incident, a 22-year-old woman staying at Oyo rooms has been reportedly raped by hotel brand’s demand manager. The matter happened on Sunday in Sector 45 Gurugram, where the woman has been living with her husband for the past one month.
Following the untoward incident, the culprit named Raghav has been arrested by police from his home in Ghamroj village. An FIR under Section 376 (rape) of the IPC was registered against him by the husband-wife duo, reports TOI.
In her police statement, the woman revealed that she and her husband were staying at Emaar Residency in Sector 45 from past one month. They used to book a room in the same hotel every day via Oyo Room’s app.
On Sunday, she and her husband made a fresh booking through the company’s app. Because of her illness, the woman had to live in the hotel and her husband was supposed to go for official work.
The duo met the hotel’s manager Vikrant at the time of booking at 5.25 pm. During the process, Raghav was also present at the manager’s cabin.
Around 9 pm Raghav came to her room saying that she has to move to a different room and also offered to help in shifting. After denial at first instance, he again knocked the door around 11 pm but sent back by the woman who said to wait until her husband comes.
At 11.45 pm someone again knocked the door. Expecting her husband to come, she opened the door but found Raghav in front who forcibly came into the room. The woman fell down because of her illness.
After some time, she came out of unconsciousness and sensed that she has been raped by the demand manager. She immediately called Raghav for questioning but he denied the allegation. But later he admitted the crime after getting a threat of police complaint.
In its report, Police mentioned that the accused has confessed to his crime and he will be produced before the city court on Thursday.
Soon after the matter came to light, Oyo’s CEO Ritesh Agarwal tweeted the company’s strong stand against the matter and ensured all possible help and cooperation from the Hotel brand company.
