Integrated laundry and cleaning solutions startup UClean has raised Rs 4 crore in pre-Series A round from angel investor Anubhav Chopra for expansion of its new business vertical ‘UClean Select’.
The company has forayed into premium dry cleaning service with the launch of its first UClean Select store in Delhi. With the fresh funding round, it aims to open 50 UClean Select outlets in tier I cities in India by the year 2020.
Besides. it plans to operate about 300 UClean stores by 2020 in the country.
Until February, the startup has been running its laundry vertical, then it announced the launch of Mint Clean, an on-demand DTH (direct-to-home) cleaning and home health company. It offers door to door cleaning solutions through a “man and van” model.

For Mint Clean launch, the startup had also raised an initial funding of $1 million from Franchise India, Asia’s largest franchising and licensing solutions company and Anubhav Chopra.
Floated by Arunabh Sinha in October 2016, UClean has also partnered US-based Alliance Laundry Systems for equipment, know-how, and training in May last year. The partnership will see Alliance Laundry Systems supply equipment worth Rs 35 crore to UClean over the next 3 years.
Available on Android and iOS apps for the convenience of quick bookings and doorstep services, the startup’s offerings are available in selected parts of Delhi-NCR region.
The funding also marks investment in laundry space after a long time. Many startups including Doormint, MyWash, and PickMyLaundry had miserably failed to operate independently. Consequently, they got consolidated with large horizontal majors Housejoy.
