Design Café raises funding from Fireside Ventures

Bengaluru-based Design Café, an online architecture & interior design firm with a focus on the Interior residential segment has raised an undisclosed amount of funding led by Fireside Ventures. Other investors participated in the round include Apurva Salarpuria from Salarpuria Group of Companies, angel investor Sidharth Pansari and Sprout Capital, Bengaluru-based micro venture capital fund.

Currently operational in Bengaluru, the startup plans to use the raised funds to expand to other cities, including Mumbai and Delhi.

Besides, the company has an experience centre in Whitefield and is opening another one on Church Street in Bengaluru.

Founded by Gita Ramanan and Shezaan Bhojani, the company aims to bring innovation in design and provide to the modern homes in India.

“Middle-class homeowners with houses priced between the range of Rs 75 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore have lacked access to designers and innovation in interior decor. We are targeting that segment,” says Bhojani, Managing Director at Design Café.

The startup claims it had seen an unprecedented 300 per cent growth in revenue over the last 12 months making 20 crores in revenue. The company expects achieving over 100 crores in revenue over the next 24 months.

This is the second round that Design Cafe has raised in the last 18 months.

Commenting on the investment, Kanwaljit Singh, MD of Fireside fund said, “Design Cafe is building a strong brand based on its innovation and design processes that are merged with technology to create contemporary new solutions that are relevant. The unparalleled growth is a confirmation of the idea by this futuristic venture.”

Recently, Fireside Ventures has also secured venture capital fund from some of Indias top businesses, including promoter Azim Premji’s PremjiInvest, consumer goods maker Marico’s Mariwalas and RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group.

Singh has been an active angel investor. Singh’s angel investments portfolio includes Paperboat drinks maker Hector Beverages, ice cream brand Hokey Pokey and online meat delivery startup Licious.
