Government is planning to develop a platform for a mega battery manufacturing and charging system which includes the use of petrol pumps for electric charging points. Right now, there are about 60,000 petrol stations set up by state-run firms and they are planning to add nearly the same number very soon.
This is being done to counter the opposition against proposed EV mandate to sell only electric 2-3 wheelers after their respective deadlines. (Source)
