Deep tech startup oorja has secured $1.5 million in a pre Series A funding round led by Micello Fund along with participation from Capital-A, Java Capital, Anicut Capital and Lead Angels.
The company plans to use the funds to build its product and make foray into Europe and North American markets.
Last year, early-stage focused fund Capital A made a strategic investment in oorja via its $10 million cleantech fund Evolve.
Launched in 2022 by Vineet Dravid, oorja uses a combination of Physics and Machine Learning to perform predictive modelling. It provides simple battery design solutions to electric vehicle makers and its competency lies in predicting accurate battery life, optimised pack design and saving cost and time.
According to oorja, it is a part of the Indian Science Technology Engineering Facilities Map (ISTEM) program. Through ISTEM, students from over 800 colleges across India have access to the oorja application suite for research and education. oorja has also received the SISFS grant.
The Bengaluru-based company asserts that it has more than 15 customers spread across Asia and Europe. Other notable companies in the deep tech space are CogKnit, Streamoid, Photom, Jumper.ai, Cognitifai and others.
