Ronin Wines raises pre-Series A round led by Rainmatter

Ronin Wines, the makers of mead brand Moonshine Meadery, announced that it has raised $675k in pre-Series A round co- led by Zerodha-backed Rainmatter Capital and Grip Invest with participation from Auxano Capital, Supermorpheus, Anthill Capital and others.

The proceeds will be deployed towards improving sales and distribution and promote better beekeeping practicest, Ronin wines said in a press release.

Co-founded in 2016 by Nitin Vishwas and Rohan Rehani, Ronin Wines makes mead which is obtained by fermenting honey with various fruits and spices. According to the company, it innovates and experiments with a range of ingredients like multifloral honey, orange blossom honey, coffee beans, guavas, apples, chillies, kaffir lime, and much more to offer a diverse spread of meads that suit different tastes.

The Pune-based firm has a presence in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Assam, Rajasthan, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Silvassa. 

Last month, Rainmatter invested in plant-based protein firm Evolved Foods which raised Rs 7.3 crore in its seed round. Earlier this year, the fund also backed fintech platform MProfit in its maiden funding round.
