Batterytech startup EMO Energy raises $1.2 Mn in Seed round

Battery-tech startupEMO Energy has raised Rs 10 crore $1.2 million in its seed round led by Transition VC,  and co-led by Gruhas. 

Founded in February 2022 by Sheetanshu Tyagi and Rahul Patel, EMO offers battery packs for light EVs, which are powered by ZEN, a proprietary cell agnostic tech platform that allows 100% fire Safety, 20-minute fast charging, and 120% improvement in battery life. 

Prior to starting EMO, Sheetanshu, and Rahul were integral to the battery pack teams at Ola Electric, Sun Mobility, Rivian, Alta Motors, Ather, and General Motors. 

EMO’s 2,3-wheeler battery system is AIS-156 phase 2 certified, is in mass production and can be purchased directly through EMO. In addition to its fireproof battery solution for light EVs, EMO is also implementing its ZEN platform for several other applications such as commercial vehicles, tractors, and large-scale energy storage.

Transition VC recently launched a target corpus of Rs 400 crore ($48.6 million) through which it plans to support 40 deep-tech startups across transitioning sectors such as e-mobility, green hydrogen, energy storage, net zero journey in buildings, and climate-tech. EMO marks Transition VC’s maiden investment from this fund.
