3D reconstruction platform Preimage has raised Rs 14 crore in a seed round led by pi Ventures. The company earlier raised $355K in a pre-seed round led by Better Capital, which also saw participation from Arka Ventures and iSeed Ventures.

The fresh capital will be utilised to strengthen its product, scale up the team across business segments as well as to build a robust go-to-market motion in the drone-based mapping and surveying use cases.

Founded by Ugam Kamat and Siddharth Jha, Preimage provides solutions for the generation of 3D digital clones by providing a fast and automated processing workflow that can scale to tens of thousands of images. These 3D digital clones are useful for geometric measurements, visual inspections, 3D graphics, architectural modelling, archaeological preservation, and scientific simulations.

Earlier this year, Preimage released a beta version of its product and claims to have engaged more than 200 customers ranging from small businesses to large enterprises across US, India, Asia Pacific and Europe. The company’s open-to-all 3D reconstruction platform will be released later this year.

Lead investor Pi Ventures had raised Rs 300 crore towards the first close of its $100 million (Rs 750 crore) second fund in January this year. Its portfolio includes Locus, Agnikul, Niramai, Wysa, and  Pyxis among others. In November 2021, Better Capital also raised its maiden fund of $15.2 million to scale its pre-seed and seed investment in India.
