Saama Capital leads $3.8 Mn round in D2C sleep solutions brand SleepyCat

D2C mattress brand SleepyCat has raised $3.8 million in a new round led by Saama Capital. Existing backers DSG Consumer Partners and Sharrp Ventures have also joined the new round.

According to the Mumbai-based company, the proceeds will be used to expand its product portfolio of mattresses and other sleep wellness accessories.

Started by Kabir Siddiq, the company makes mattresses from foam or latex and delivers them vacuum pressed in a small box.

Since its inception, SleepyCat claims to have shipped over 10,000 products per month across categories. It also offers benefits like 10 years of warranty, 30 nights free trial and one-day deliveries in cities like Mumbai and Bangalore.

SleepyCat competes with the likes of Wakefit and The Sleep Company. Bengaluru-based Wakefit has emerged as one of the largest funded startups in the D2C mattress brand. In December 2020, it raised Rs 185 crore in its Series B round led by Verlinvest and Sequoia Capital India. According to media reports, the company is also in talks to raise a larger round.
