Funding in Indian startups this week (19 July-24 July)

This week 35 Indian startups raised funding, of which 28 received a total sum of about $1076 million or $1.07 billion. Swiggy raised the highest funding of about $450 million, followed by Lenskart and GlobalBees, which raised $220 million and $150 million respectively.

Meanwhile, funding for 7 of the total funded startups remained undisclosed.

Below is the summary of deals closed this week

Swiggy: Foodtech major Swiggy has closed a $1.25 billion round led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2 and its existing backer Prosus. While the company had raised $800 million in April, it has topped the round with another $450 million. 

Lenskart: Omni-channel D2C eyewear brand and a unicorn startup, Lenskart has raised $220 million led by Temasek, the sovereign wealth fund of Singapore, and Falcon Edge Capital.

GlobalBees: GlobalBees has burst into the club with a record $150 million raise in its Series A round led by FirstCry. Lightspeed also participated in the round.

HealthifyMe: Health and fitness company HealthifyMe has raised $75 million in its Series C funding round led by LeapFrog and Khosla Ventures. HealthQuad, Unilever Ventures, and Elm (Saudi Arabia PIF entity) also participated in the round along with existing investors Chiratae Ventures, Inventus Capital and Sistema Asia Capital.

BlackBuck: Surface logistics company BlackBuck has raised $67 million in its Series E round led by Tribe Capital, IFC Emerging Asia Fund and VEF. Existing investors Wellington Management, Sands Capital, and International Finance Corporation also participated in it.

Mamaearth: Mamaearth scoops up $27 Mn in a new round from Sofina Ventures with fresh equity participation. 

Vegrow: Fresh farm produce supply chain startup Vegrow has raised $13 million in its Series A round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Elevation Capital. Matrix Partners India, Ankur Capital, Better Capital and Titan Capital have also participated.

Captain Fresh: B2B tech marketplace for seafood Captain Fresh has picked up $12 million in its Series A round led by Accel. The funding round saw participation from its existing investors Matrix Partners India.

Otipy: Otipy, a community group buying platform for fresh fruits and vegetables, has raised $10.2 million in its Series A round led by SIG. Omidyar Network India, Innoven Capital and existing investors Inflection Point Ventures, Pravega and FactorE also participated in the round.

Sea6 Energy: Sea6 Energy, a sustainable, large-scale, and mechanised ocean farming startup, on Wednesday said it raised $9 million in a Series B round led by the Netherlands-based Aqua-Spark.

Outplay: SMEs-focused sales engagement platform Outplay has bagged $7.3 million in its Series A round from Sequoia Capital India.

The Whole Truth: Clean label health food brand The Whole Truth has raised around $5.75 million in a new financing round led by Sequoia Capital and participated by existing backers along with eight angel investors.

Dozee: Remote patient monitoring (RPM) startup Dozee has raised Rs 44 crore or close to $6 million in its Series A round led by Prime Venture Partners. YourNest Venture Capital and 3one4 Capital have also participated.  

Even: Healthcare startup Even raised $5 million in a seed round led by Khosla Ventures, with participation from Founders Fund and others.

Eka.Care: Healthcare platform Eka.Care has raised $4.5 million in its seed round of funding from a clutch of angels and early-stage investors.

Mynvax: Mynvax, a healthcare startup, raised $4.2 million in a Series A round led by Accel. LetsVenture, 1Crowd, Kotak Investment Advisors, and others.   

NirogStreet: Ayurveda doctor platform NirogStreet raised $2.5 million in a Series A round from Gokul Rajaram, Pureland Venture, and Wavemaker Partners.

Mailmodo: Email marketing software platform Mailmodo has raised $2 million in its seed round led by Sequoia Capital India’s Surge and Y Combinator with the participation of its existing investors.

Edvizo: Bengaluru-based edtech startup Edvizo has raised $1 million in a pre-Series A round led by Inflection Point Ventures.

Zouk: D2C lifestyle brand Zouk has raised $1.5 million in its pre-Series A round of funding led by Stellaris Venture Partners and participated by Titan Capital and angels including, Manish Chowdhary, Manish and Karan Chowdhary.

Instrucko: Instrucko, an edtech startup, closed a seed round of $1 million led by MVK Group.   

RiseBird: HR tech startup RiseBird raised Rs 4.1 crore or $0.55 million from SAB Holdings.

Beco: D2C brand Beco raised Rs 4 crore or $0.55 million in a seed round led by Climate Angels Fund and other investors.

Automovill:  Mobility tech startup Automovill raised $0.5 million in a bridge round from Mumbai Angels Network.

GalaxyCard: Fintech startup GalaxyCard raised $0.45 million in an angel round led by JITO Angel Network and other angel investors.

Uvi Health: Uvi Health, a healthtech startup for women, has raised $0.33 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Titan Capital and others.

Proxgy: Proxgy raised a $0.25 million pre-seed round led by Lexical Systems and angel investors.

Braingroom: Braingroom, an edtech startup, raised Rs 1.5 crore or $0.2 million from IAN, Social Alpha, and Startup Oasis.

Undisclosed deals this week

SuperBeings, NFTically, Hyreo, Godi Energy, Flow Club, Epick and CareerNinja did not disclose their financial details.
